Andrew Osayemi is a man of many talents. He transitioned from being a successful city trader to co-founding a TV production company, MTA Productions, makers of the international hit TV sitcom.
Born and bred in the UK to Nigerian parents, Andrew studied Economics at Warwick University. After graduating in 2005 he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Investment Banking Division as a graduate trader working there for five years in London and New York. During his time with RBS, he quickly rose through the ranks to ultimately become Head Euro FX Trader in New York. Living in New York got Andrew’s creative juices flowing, and he decided upon his return to the UK to leave the financial world and move into the media space.
This resulted in the creation of MTA Productions Ltd alongside TV producer Debra Odutuyo in 2010. Their vision was to establish the world’s biggest TV production company specialising in African related content. Andrew successfully raised capital and the company’s first project was the highly successful British-African TV sitcom Meet the Adebanjo’s. The show has since been syndicated to several countries across
Africa including Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana and South Africa. The show has won several awards, been adapted for a sold-out theatre run in London and in its debut season was the third most watched comedy show in South Africa on SABC. Season 2 was filmed this summer with more TV projects from MTA
