
According to Daily Sun, the former militants were reportedly protesting the alleged delay in the monthly payments of their allowances by the Niger Delta amnesty office.
The protesters who were over a 100 barricaded the Government House entrance and insisted that Utuama would not leave until their demands were met or a promise made.The former militants were said to have the popular blocked East/West road for hours last week in a similar protest.
However, the police and operatives of the joint military task force were on ground to restore normalcy at the government house annex yesterday.
In a statement he released after the incident, Avwode said the militants staged a peaceful demonstration and didn’t hold his boss to ransom.The Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Mr. Augustine Avwode however denied Utuama was held hostage by the former militants.

“On Monday, the boys protested and only went to express their grievances yesterday when they heard that the deputy governor was at Government House Annex in Warri. They subsequently dispersed after expressing their grievances in the hope that the deputy governor will relay them to higher quarters”.Daily Times reports that negotiations were still ongoing as at press time as the deputy governor was trying to placate the rampaging youths, who were insisting on getting their allowances.The former militants had last month issued a dire warning to members of the House of Representatives over the alleged plot to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan.
